My Professional Background

I joined Attwaters Jameson Hill in February 2024 as a Senior Associate in the Commercial Property department. With a wealth of experience built up during a career that has spanned three decades, I deal with all aspects of commercial landlord and tenant matters, acting for both sides, including setting up template leases for buildings, transfers of a going concern (TOGCs), and the leasing of tied pubs.

My experience also includes land assembly for superstores and other developments, planning documentation relating to Section 106 and Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) obligations, alongside development transactions where I have acted for both Local Authorities and individuals, including variation agreements to amend payment timings.

I have also prepared plot sale documentation for small developments and have advised and acted for clients entering into options for the sale of land with potential to develop, as well as overage deeds for future uplift value on development.

My role is extremely interesting due to the wide nature and variety of the transactions I deal with, encompassing all matters relating to commercial property – i.e., everything and anything which is not residential property, including acting for borrowers gaining commercial funding. I pride myself particularly on my structuring, drafting and negotiation skills, which enable me to document and finalise complex transactions efficiently on behalf of my clients.

Prior to joining Attwaters Jameson Hill, I gained extensive experience within both the private and public sectors. I worked at Berwin Leighton (now known as Brian Cave Leighton Paisner) for 12 years, The Council of the Borough of Broxbourne for 18 years (heading up their commercial property section of the legal department), and Duffield Harrison LLP for 5 years (Partner and head of their commercial property department). A particular work highlight for me was being assistant to a Senior Partner at Berwin Leighton at the time Tesco built the Brookfield superstore.

About me

I was born in Reading, Berkshire and raised in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire. I am the eldest of three siblings and have two girls, now aged 30 and 27.

I like any type of food and enjoy eating out with family, friends and colleagues. Generally, I prefer wine to spirits.

Most recently, I lost my horse of a lifetime. He was 29 years old, and I bought him when he was 4. I trained him to 5th level (Advanced Medium) in dressage, and we competed affiliated to British Dressage for several years until his retirement. I still enjoy riding an advanced dressage horse at a nearby training centre once a week. I also enjoy golf and paddle tennis.

As a child I wanted to be what was then referred to as an air hostess (although it’s now correct to say cabin crew!), as it would have been fun to see the world.

My ideal desert island companion would have to be a younger Richard Gere.
