“A really good firm” – Attwaters receives high praise in latest Legal 500 release

On behalf of Attwaters Jameson Hill posted on Thursday, October 5th, 2023

Attwaters Jameson Hill is delighted to announce another spectacular round of results in this year’s Legal 500 rankings, with many individual lawyers and entire departments named and praised for their standout legal work, attention to detail and excellent client service.

The Legal 500 is one of the world’s leading legal directories. Each year, it carries out painstaking research to identify and rank the firms that are providing the most cutting-edge and innovative advice to their clients. In its 2024 results, 10 individual lawyers and six departments were mentioned by name, all accompanied by glowing testimonials from clients and Legal 500 researchers alike.

Without further ado – the 2024 results!

The 2024 rankings

We were gratified to see that our Town & Country Planning practice, headed up by the “first-rate” Salvatore Amico, retained its prestigious Tier 2 ranking in this year’s results. Salvatore himself was also proud to retain his Leading Individual title, which is used to call attention to outstanding lawyers who are leading the way in their respective fields. Noted for the “vast expertise” he brings to the team, Salvatore was praised for his “excellent understanding of planning-related issues”, while the department as a whole was described as “efficient, friendly and knowledgeable” and “just a good all-round practice with professional people who all seem to know what one another is doing”.

Our “responsive and easily contactable” Court of Protection team, headed up by Leading Individual Lesley-Ann Mayhew, was also commended for its “really warm and friendly approach”. Lesley herself received glowing praise: “Lesley-Ann Mayhew is interested in her client’s welfare, takes time to understand the issues at hand and provides the level of support that is required, adapting to different situations as needed.”

Our Medical Negligence team were delighted to uphold their reputation of one of the region’s leading practices, with one client testimonial lauding its “absolutely superb level of service and beautifully and very carefully prepared instructions.” Sheenagh Parsons, who co-heads the team together with our Partner Joanne Westbrook, was described as a “well-established leader in her field”, with the directory adding that “any client that receives the benefit of her expertise is a client receiving the highest quality legal representation possible.” Elaine Prewer, another key lawyer named by the directory, was said to have “excellent judgement and is able to demonstrate exceptional strategic thinking, which is always to the benefit of her clients”.

Our “personable” Family Law team was also in the spotlight this year, with the directory commenting that “they have a good reputation locally and are well respected.” Named lawyers included our Practice Head, Belinda Strange, in addition to Consultant Joyti Henchie and the experienced Stephanie Holmes. Joyti received fulsome praise in the rankings this year: “Joyti Henchie is best described as being the standout lawyer of her generation in this field. There is no question of her ability as a lawyer, and there is in my view no-one better in this field.”

Our Wills, Trusts and Probate team, headed up by our Senior Partner Andrew Flannagan, was said to provide “a friendly and professional service” and “can be relied upon for a prompt reply and efficient handling of each enquiry.” Lesley-Ann Mayhew, who also undertakes Wills and Probate work in addition to her Court of Protection cases, was also named Leading Individual in this practice area, an achievement of which we are all immensely proud. One client said, “the priority is always the client, one of the best teams I’ve worked with.” Of Lesley-Ann specifically, the directory praised her “personal touch and professional service”, stating that she was “hugely knowledgeable, with an unrivalled personal touch.”

Last – but by no means least – our Dispute Resolution team was said to be “very diligent” as well as “technically outstanding and very professional”, whilst practice head Leanne Philp was commended as “absolutely outstanding”. The directory continued, “Her work is very professional and she ensures that she meets all relevant deadlines.” Also named and praised as a key lawyer in this year’s results was Associate Prabhi Ghura.

Our Managing Partner’s words

Our Managing Partner, Sheri-Anne Mizon, was understandably delighted by the results, commenting:

“Excellent client care, innovation and service excellence are all values that sit at the very heart of our business. It is incredibly rewarding to see that these core beliefs, and our efforts to incorporate them into every case we work on, have been recognised by clients and peers alike in this year’s Legal 500 results.”

She continued: “As ever, I am immensely proud of our hardworking and diligent team, who give their all to every single case in their desire to achieve the outcomes our clients need and deserve. I know that these latest results will only add to their motivation to expand their knowledge and expertise, improve our client experience and deliver the very best legal advice to every client who crosses our threshold.”
