Inquest touching on the death of Aisha Nasiwa – Hospital Director confirms that observations of a patient are not there to monitor health nor is it necessary to check whether a patient is breathing.

Aisha Nasiwa died on 22 April 2014 aged 44 years at the Huntercombe Mental Health Hospital, Roehampton, London. Aisha did not have a history of mental health issues but shortly before her death she did seem confused and was talking oddly. Police were called to the shared house in which she was living and she was subsequently taken to Horton Hospital NHS Trust in Oxford where she was detained under Section 2 of the Mental Health Act until a bed was found for her at Roehampton.
