Mark heads lawyers’ commercial team

On behalf of Attwaters Jameson Hill posted on Tuesday, October 25th, 2016

An experienced corporate solicitor who lives in Dunmow has joined Essex & Herts law firm Attwaters Jameson Hill to head up its Company & Commercial team. He is Mark Stigwood, who came to the successful regional firm from another respected practice in the area.

After gaining a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of London in 2003,

Mark worked as a paralegal in Harlow for two years. He then completed his one-year full-time Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School in central London and qualified as a solicitor in 2006. Over the past eight years he has worked at two law firms, with particular emphasis on corporate work.

“This is a great opportunity for me to contribute to the success of businesses across our region,” Mark explains. “I knew early in my career that company and commercial aspects of the law interested me the most. That focus has not changed during my years of working in that field and I’m grateful for the chance to meet the challenge of leading the departmental team at Attwaters Jameson Hill.

“When working with clients I’m passionate about getting to know them and understanding their business. I’ll always go the extra mile to meet with them at their premises, taking the time to listen and learn about their business with a view to adding value, and working collaboratively with them to help achieve their goals.”

The areas in which Mark Stigwood can advise business clients are wide-ranging and include: company law, business start-ups, franchising, banking and commercial finance, directors’ rights and duties, partnerships and limited liability partnerships, joint ventures, reorganisations, mergers, acquisitions and sales, management buy-outs and buy-ins, and commercial contracts of all kinds.

“Mark is an outstanding corporate lawyer,” says the firm’s managing partner Andrew Flannagan. “Such openings do not arise every day and there were other good applicants available, but Mark was chosen as the ideal candidate to take forward our plans to build on what we have achieved already, to create an unbeatable service for business clients of all shapes and sizes.”

Having lived in Little Hadham, Canfield, Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted, Mark is now settled in Dunmow with his wife and two young children. As well as family activities, he enjoys sport, especially cycling and Rugby Union.
