Legal 500: Our “superb” lawyers “punch above their weight”

On behalf of Attwaters Jameson Hill posted on Thursday, October 1st, 2020

The hard work of Attwaters Jameson Hill’s lawyers has been rewarded once more, with excellent results and complimentary client comments in this year’s Legal 500 directory.

We were recommended in eight practice areas, while 14 of our lawyers were specifically named for their hard work and expertise in their field. In addition, three of our solicitors were awarded prestigious “Leading Individual” status, while three more were named as “Next Generation Lawyers”. For 33 years, The Legal 500 directory has been analysing the capabilities of law firms across the world, assessing their strengths in over 150 jurisdictions and determining those firms that are providing “the most cutting edge and innovative advice” to their clients.

Our “star performer” Lesley-Ann Mayhew shone once again in the 2020 results, with two titles to her name. Once again awarded “Leading Individual” status for her “tireless” Court of Protection work, she was also awarded the title of “Next Generation Partner” (also for the second time) for her specialist work within the Wills, Trusts and Probate team. She was praised for her “approachable and efficient manner”, her “strong, incisive knowledge of the field”, and described as an “extraordinarily hard worker who works tirelessly for her clients.” Another comment simply said: “Lesley-Ann Mayhew goes from strength to strength.”

Joyti Henchie  is thoroughly deserving of her ‘Leading Individual’ status – a title she has now held for many years. The Family department was also praised for its “high quality all round service” that places the team “miles ahead of any competitor”, and was deservingly recognised for dealing “with some of the more challenging cases in the Essex area.” The team’s excellent work with “demanding clients and those with a high net worth or complex financial affairs” did not escape notice, cementing Attwaters Jameson Hill’s reputation as a leading private wealth law firm. As one satisfied client stated: “A real team is what they are. It’s a delight to experience.”

Equally retaining his ‘Leading Individual’ title for yet another year running was the “hugely experienced” Rob Jameson, a Consultant in our Town and Country Planning team. He received acclaim for his “skill, knowledge and expertise” and “his ability to get to the key issues and explain things clearly.”

Salvatore Amico, Head of our Town and Country Planning team who works with Rob, moved onwards and upwards from his “Rising Star” title of last year, becoming a “Next Generation Partner” in this year’s results.

Mark Stigwood, who heads up our Corporate and Commercial team, was equally delighted to remain a “Next Generation Lawyer”; his department was praised for its “experience in advising start-ups on a range of matters”, as well as a broad spectrum of other commercial issue. Jonathan Clarke was also noted as a key lawyer on the team.

Our Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence teams were proud to feature three named lawyers in this year’s results, and were described as “heavyweight clinical negligence solicitors”. Practice head Joanne Westbrook, along with Partners Sheenagh Parsons and Lesley-Ann Mayhew, were praised for having “for some time punched above their weight in this area”, while Lesley-Ann was commended for being “extremely knowledgeable and sympathetic” towards clients lacking capacity.

Commenting on this year’s results, our Managing Partner, Andrew Flannagan, said: “We couldn’t be prouder of our solicitors this year, who thoroughly deserved the high praise they received in comments from our many satisfied clients. This feedback will only spur us on to work harder and achieve better outcomes for our clients, who rely on us for our expertise and ability to advocate on their behalf at often difficult times in their lives.”
