Chambers & Partners 2014 guide (a leading guide to the world’s best lawyers) again recognised the Medical Negligence team and lawyers from the Medical Negligence, Family and Planning Department.

Chambers & Partners 2014 guide (a leading guide to the world’s best lawyers) again recognised the Medical Negligence team and lawyers from the Medical Negligence, Family and Planning Department.

The Medical Negligence team was again ranked in Band 1.  The Department was recognised as attracting a large number of maximum severity and complex claims, in particular brain injury cases, including those involving cerebral palsy. The Department was also recognised for the significant volume of matters it deals with involving delays in diagnosis and misdiagnosis, such as cancer cases.

The Department was praised for it’s client service: “Words can’t explain how excellent it was. The team was so caring and it felt like a really personal service.”  It also gained recognition for it’s expertise and specialist nature… “It was the expertise we appreciated – it is a truly specialist team. There is a nurse who goes through the records with a fine toothcomb and raises the questions that need to be answered by experts.”  Technical ability is also a strength of the Department… “As a regional firm it punches well above its weight. It is very good on quantum and looks for avenues that haven’t been explored.”

The ranked lawyers in the Medical Negligence Department were Department head David Kerry who received a wealth of positive feedback, with many sources stressing his thoroughness: “He is very precise and meticulous, and questions things more than most” and Madeline Seibert who was said to remain a popular figure with clients, one of whom said: “She was an absolute stalwart and stuck with me through thick and thin. The empathy she showed was unbelievable.”

Joyti Henchie, Partner and Department Head of the Family Department was recognised by Chambers & Partners for the first time and ranked in Band 2.   She is noted for her diverse practice advising on both public and private law matters. Sources describe her as “an exceptional practitioner,” with others noting that “the advice she gives clients is always spot-on and consistently shows her excellent judgment.”

Robert Jameson, Head of the Commercial Department remained ranked in Band 1 for his planning work and was described as a leading practitioner in this field. Clients praise him as a “solid  and unflappable” lawyer “who is great at taking the heat out of the situation and looking for a sensible way through.”
