My Professional Background

My career in HR started in 1997, when I joined a Software Company in the City of London at the height of the ‘dot com’ era. The company went through a period of rapid growth and change and within four years we went from having 30 employees, going through five acquisitions floating on the stock market, to having a headcount of 2,000 with offices worldwide.

I was extremely fortunate to have joined the company at start-up stage, which enabled me to gain fantastic exposure to the world of business and in particular Human Resources. It was here that I was supported and encouraged to study for my CIPD qualification, which I did via distance learning whilst working.

I joined Attwater & Liell (as we were known back then) as the HR Manager in 2001, after having my first child and deciding that I wanted to work closer to home. I initially worked on a part-time basis – back then we had just over 50 staff. I now work pretty much full-time and have a full-time Assistant.

Together, we look after 100 staff and partners across our four offices in Hertford, Ware, Harlow and Loughton, with responsibility for Recruitment and Selection, Learning and Development, Payroll and Benefits, Employee Relations, Performance Management and everything else in between.

I am a people person and that is why a career in HR suits me so well. The team we have here at Attwaters Jameson Hill have become my second family; everyone is very friendly and supportive.

About me

I live in a village in South Cambridgeshire with my partner, two children and our two dogs. My favourite meal is a good old Sunday roast. I enjoy spending time with my family and have a phobia of spiders. I am fortunate enough that I am working in my dream job, so am pleased to say there’s no other profession for me! If I was going to a desert island, I wouldn’t be able to choose just the one companion and would take my partner, children and dogs with me for company.
