Five-year merger anniversary celebrations

On behalf of Attwaters Jameson Hill posted on Friday, July 14th, 2017

This July, we are celebrating the fifth anniversary of the merger of Attwaters and Jameson & Hill, two prestigious local firms within their respective towns (Attwaters in Harlow and Loughton, Jameson & Hill in Hertford and Ware), with a collective experience of over 150 years.

Attwaters was established in 1901, as Attwater & Liell, named after its two founding partners. It opened its Loughton office in the 1930s and expanded to establish a Harlow office in 1954. Jameson & Hill was formed in 1982 by Robert Jameson and Christopher Hill, with offices in Hertford and Ware.

The two firms merged in 2012, to form a new practice – Attwaters Jameson Hill. The merger provided even greater experience and specialist expertise with which to serve the local communities. Since then, we have continued to grow, whilst maintaining our approachable nature and local community spirit, supporting nearby charities, participating in fundraisers and providing exceptional legal service to local individuals and businesses. Not only has our turnover doubled over the last five years, we have further increased our headcount and now employ over 100 people, most of whom are from the local area. Our offices remain at the centre of the communities we serve, an integral part of Hertford, Ware, Harlow and Loughton.

In our combined history as a firm, generations of families and businesses have been helped by our skilled lawyers. We are fully accredited by Lexcel and are appointed by a number of law society panels. We have also gained recognition in The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners as a leading firm.

Our Managing Partner, Andrew Flannagan, said: “It is very important for us to celebrate this five-year milestone. Attwaters Jameson Hill encompasses staff with decades of experience, from Attwaters and Jameson & Hill, as well as many new staff who have joined us in the last five years. We successfully combine experience and modernity, to give our clients the best possible service.

“We are continuing to grow, but have never forgotten our heritage. We proudly support local charities each year – in 2017/18 we are fundraising for Grove Cottage, which provides social and educational activities for people of all ages with learning disabilities.

“I am delighted with what Attwaters Jameson Hill has achieved in the last five years, we have become a leading firm in our relative practice areas and I know that we have a very exciting future ahead of us”.
